A photo went viral. The media pounced. Column inches were filled with commentary about what Deepika Padukone was or wasn't wearing. The moral policing was loud, smug and thoroughly predictable.
Deepika didn't play along.
She fired back with one of the most memorable tweets in Bollywood history — *"Yes I am a woman. I have breasts. You have a problem?"* Short, sharp, unapologetic. Several major newspapers backed her up. The story that was meant to embarrass her ended up embarrassing everyone who wrote it.
**Before the fame, there were the boys.**
Her first relationship in Mumbai was with Nihar, someone she met at an acting school in 2005. What started as a friendship quietly turned into something more. It didn't last, but it was the beginning of a pattern — Deepika has always attracted interesting men.
There was a brief spell with model Upen Patel. Then cricket came calling. Yuvraj Singh, India's golden boy with the bat, had a well-known soft spot for Bollywood — he was linked to Kim Sharma before Deepika caught his eye.
Around the same time, she was also rumoured to be seeing Siddharth Mallya — son of the flamboyant liquor tycoon Vijay Mallya. The two were spotted together often enough to keep gossip columns busy.
Then MS Dhoni entered the picture. The story goes that when he first saw Deepika, he was so taken that he asked Shahrukh Khan to introduce them. He even invited her to watch India play Australia in a Twenty20 match in Mumbai in 2007. But nothing official ever happened — partly because Deepika was already being linked to Yuvraj at the time.
**Then came Ranbir. And everything changed — for a while.**
They met on the sets of *Bachna Ae Haseen* and fell hard. Ranbir reportedly proposed at an awards function. For nearly three years they were Bollywood's golden couple — open about their relationship, genuinely in love, impossible to ignore.
It ended. These things do.
**And then came Ranveer.**
If Ranbir was the great romance, Ranveer Singh is the real thing.
The man fixes her earrings in crowds. He shields her when the cameras close in. He cheers for her performances like a man who actually means it. She does the same for him.
On 14 and 15 November 2018, they made it official — married in Italy, following both Konkani and Sindhi traditions, surrounded by family.
No drama. No performance. Just two people who clearly adore each other.
