Chappell Roan Sets Paris Ablaze in Gothic McQueen Masterpiece

Chappell Roan’s meteoric rise from breakout pop sensation to fashion’s most daring muse reached its zenith at Paris Fashion Week. On March 8, 2026, she stormed the McQueen Womenswear Fall/Winter 2026–2027 runway in a sheer black “naked” dress that was less an outfit than a performance—an electrifying fusion of drag-inspired spectacle and the rebellious DNA of the House of McQueen.

The gown, conceived under Seán McGirr’s creative direction, was a study in contrasts: gossamer-thin transparency offset by crystal armor, noir lingerie layered beneath, and Roan’s copper waves paired with bleached brows to conjure a Victorian-punk tension. It was the “naked” trend reimagined with intellectual bite, a look that demanded to be read as theatre rather than mere provocation.

Throughout Paris, Roan has embraced the role of fashion’s “main character.” From sculptural Acne Studios silhouettes to Rick Owens’ archival lavender gowns, she has treated the city streets as her stage, collaborating with stylist Genesis Webb to craft a narrative of high-concept risk-taking. Roan doesn’t just wear clothes—she inhabits them, embodying each collection’s

persona with a conviction that lingers long after the runway lights fade.

Her McQueen moment signals a decisive shift in the fashion cycle: a break from the muted “quiet luxury” of past seasons toward unapologetic spectacle. By fusing her musical identity with couture’s visual language, Roan has proven that the modern icon is not simply dressed but authored—writing herself into the very fabric of fashion history.
